La llamada

This work forms part of two periods, the first before Covid-19 and the second, during the lockdown.

The lower part of the painting represents the fear and uncertainty that we are living through with the virus.
The fear of the unknown of the illness.
The uncertainty is the anguish and the apprehension of deficiencies or lack of knowledge of this disease. The not knowing how to deal with it.
There are no certainties about the development of this disease and the use of social networks as a vehicle for transmitting this uncertainty.
The upper part of the painting represents hope.
Hope: the word, which is feminine in Spanish, means confidence in achieving something or that something we desire is achieved for us.

I have lived these fears, uncertainties and hopes working in my studio in Toledo, Spain.

Technical notes:
Beneath the work we see there is another painting worked in natural soils with yellows, ochres and greens. The relief is obtained with stones and ground marble of different sizes.

The paint is a mixture of synthetics and the varnishes give us the strength of colour, along with the movement in the lower part and the swirling colourful brushwork.
