Suddenly, I looked down

For milennia the Canary Island Pine has tolerated fires, only the bark is ever burnt, the interior continues living. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a protected volcanic area in the centre of the island of La Palma is one of the most breath-taking environments that nature has to offer us.
This work is inspired by this beautiful trip, where the real and unreal were easily confused.

Technical Notes:
The base of this painting is made with ground rock of various sizes, as well as powdered marble and various coats of acrylic and synthetic paints. This was subjected to heat treatment in order to obtain the textures, combinded with various types of glues and adhesives. The finishing touch is a gloss varnish.
